47,719 items including DVDs, CDs, videos, audio books, and magazines. The branch has a strong Spanish language collection for adults and children.

Community

The Cortez Branch Library is located in a rapidly growing part of Southside San Antonio. The branch is located near Palo Alto College, Texas A&M University at San Antonio, the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas assembly plant, the Senator Frank Madla Transit Center, Mitchell Lake Audubon Park, and Medina River Park. Cortez serves schools in the South San Independent School District. The library provides service to Bexar county communities including Somerset and Von Ormy. A small but dedicated group of patrons from Atascosa County pay yearly out-of-county fees to use the Cortez Branch Library. 

Located in U.S. Congressional District 20, Texas State Senate District 26, Texas State Representative District 123, and City Council District 4.
