Celebrate National Trails Day with a pleasant stoll on the Discovery Trail

Celebrate National Trails Day with a pleasant stroll along the Discovery Trail. Join us on June 3 from 8 AM until around 11 AM for a fairly easy hike (about 1.5 miles round trip) over gentle terrain. Open to all ages; minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. No pets please.

Dress for hiking outdoors; sunscreen and hat recommended. Wear sturdy footwear appropriate for rough trails; bring one (1) liter of water per person and a snack if you like. Meet at the Visitors Center by the rainwater harvesting tower.

Reservations required! This hike is limited to the first 15 individuals who register/make a reservation.  Reserve your spot at https://friendsofgovernmentcanyon.org/events/

Registration opens on Saturday two weeks prior to the event and closes at noon the Thursday before the event.

Though the hike is free, entrance fees to the Natural Area do apply. Plan to arrive early as mornings can be very busy. The Natural Area front gates open at 7:00AM; plan to be at the Visitor Center and ready to go no later than 7:45AM; the hike starts promptly at 8:00 AM.
