Description:

Join Park Host Lorin as we learn the basics of binocular use and bird identification!

IMPORTANT: Reservations are required to enter the State Natural Area Friday through Monday, on holidays and/or during school breaks.

Focus on Our Feathered Friends details:

Location: Day-use Picnic Area.
Time: Rolling -- this is a drop-in/stop-by presentation; you do not need to be here at the start time to join in; this program may end early if we run out of fresh binoculars.
Distance: no hiking.

Binoculars and birds will be supplied. In order to help us learn the key features of bird identification, we have several 'birds' placed throughout the picnic area. We'll be learning to identify using these stationary targets -- and perhaps even see some of them in person for identification on the fly.

Reservations are required to enter the State Natural Area Friday through Sunday, on holidays or during school breaks. You can check day pass availability online at TexasStateParks.ReserveAmerica.com. While a reservation is required for park entry, you do not need to RSVP for this program specifically.

Entrance fees: $8/adult; children 12 and under are free; no additional fees for park programs.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: There will be NO water available in the park from June 4th through July 1st. All visitors MUST bring their own water for consumption. Non-flushing restrooms will be available.

All programs are weather dependent -- if it rains, the Summit Trail and all elevated trails and areas of the park are closed.
